KC Cares: Unexpected Blooms pulls petals together for people in need

Recycling to brighten someone’s day is the core idea behind Unexpected Blooms. The group collects flowers from all kinds of events—corporate dinners, weddings, galas— and repackages them into small arrangements.

Rescuing & Redesigning Beautiful Floral Arrangements

Flowers are generously donated from weddings, memorial services, charity, corporate and private events, florists and retailers. Unexpected Blooms volunteers recut, refresh and reuse those flowers to create beautiful bouquets.

Impact is growing again for an initiative that sends recycled floral arrangements — flowers otherwise headed for the trash after events — to homebound Kansas City seniors.
